School Tour Fun!

Lots of learning and laughter!

Posted on June 21st, 2017 in Latest News,Ms. Griffin by Ms. Griffin

We have been SUPER busy lately. We have had Active Week, The Enniscorthy Athletics Competition, A Football Blitz, A visit from The Women’s Rugby World Cup, A tug of war class, a dance class with Wilma, Gaelic with Jason, Rugby with Corey, Tennis with Ashley, an Athlectics workshop and Mercy’s Got Talent!

Jodie and Kacey took to the stage for Mercy’s Got Talent and did us proud.

Danny, Jodie, Alannah, Evan and Luke went to The Enniscorthy Athletics Competition and Ms. English said that she was very proud of them!

Evan gave the boys a ‘lace – tying lesson’ as some of them need to work really hard on learning how to tie their laces over the Summer!!

We used the new laptops to research projects for Geography and History.

We did shadow pictures and as many activities as we could outside because the weather has been really nice.

Dilara and Ruby K reached the Skipathon final during Active Week and Dilara managed to come 3rd place. She is the 3rd best skipper in the whole school!

Kacey, Róisín and Ruby M were presented with certificates for their outstanding handwriting!

The year isn’t over yet … stay tuned for more photographs!

Our Trip to Dublin and other adventures

Posted on April 7th, 2017 in Latest News,Ms. Griffin by Ms. Griffin

Our trip to Dublin was brilliant! We had such a good day. We went to Dublinia and our guide Barry really taught us a lot. We explored the National History Museum and saw The Bog Men and many other artefacts.

We have had fun doing Art, Geography projects and a story writing competition too.

We also had our termly treat of a movie in the hall… with popcorn! Thankfully everyone in our class had earned enough to stamps to be able to take part in the treat.

More lovely photos of fun times in Room 12.

We celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite character from a book. Then we went to The Book Centre to meet aWexford author Caroline Busher. She was very interesting. We used our book token to get a free book and we even got popcorn and jellies!

We then invited Ms. Hughes’ Class up to our room and we read out mini books to them. We all wrote and designed a mini book suitable for 1st class children. They really enjoyed our stories.

We have done lots of bright, colourful Art recently – mirror pictures, painting of daffodils and beautiful Spring flowers.

We also enjoyed a talk from The Dogs’ Trust. We got to meet a lovely little rescue dog too.

We raised €220 for two very worthy charities and look forward to presenting them with their cheques in January. A sincere thank you to you all for your warm wishes, cards and very generous gifts. They were much appreciated. Enjoy the holidays.

Best wishes, Ms. Griffin

Again … we’ve been so busy and we have had great fun! We celebrated Science Week by doing lots of cool experiments in school and we even did some experiments at home with our parents.

We went to Wexford Library for a Science Week interactive talk called Across Africa. We learned all about an Irish explorer and his journey across the continent of Africa. We saw pictures, paintings and even a lion’s skull!

We learned about tessellation and shapes in Maths and we worked in groups to make shapes and explore how certain shapes tessellate.

dsc_4207dsc_4234All the children in Room 12 have worked really hard this month and are trying their best to always earn their behavior stamps every single day so as a treat today we had a little Halloween party.

Sadhbh baked some beautiful buns for us. Teacher gave us some treats.

We went on a spooky walk around the track and then around the block! We scared everyone we met!

We tidied up our room and then we listened to our “Spooky Tale” story competition winners – Anna Dempsey, Ruby Crosbie, Ruby Murphy and Abbi Grigorjevaite.

Happy Halloween 🎃

We have a winner!

Posted on October 12th, 2016 in Ms. Griffin by Ms. Griffin

Recently our class entered an Art competition where we had to design a poster illustrating the slogan “Exercise is good for you!” The National Association of Physiotherapists ran the competition for all the 4th class children in Wexford town as they are having their special meeting in Wexford this year. We might not have won the overall prize but we did win a runner up prize!

There were lots of great entries with Ruby and Abbi getting a special mention but the overall winner was Alannah! She got a voucher for Sportsavers.

Local physiotherapist Kay Nixon came to our school today to present Alannah with her prize. We were all very proud.

Our Autumn Walk to Redmond Park

Posted on October 11th, 2016 in Ms. Griffin by Ms. Griffin

We went on an Autumn walk to Redmond Park. We practiced our Road Safety skills on the way down and our teacher was very proud of our good behaviour.

There are lots of beautiful trees in Redmond Park – oak, sycamore, birch, spruce and fir.

We explored the park and collected lots of different coloured leaves – brown, green, red, yellow and orange.

When we got back to school, we let the leaves dry out on the window sills and a few days after that we make beautiful Autumn tree pictures.

Settling into 4th Class!

Posted on September 29th, 2016 in Ms. Griffin by Ms. Griffin

September has been fun-filled and full of learning. Here are some of the things that we got up to …

We tackled lines and angles and hundreds and thousands. We learned about The Normans, sketched and painted self-portraits, started Drama with WACT and practiced our handwriting.

We played some games in Gaeilge, learned a couple of songs, started a new novel and made class bunting.

We ran really fast around the track to record our personal best times and made a lovely Sacred Space.

Phew!  What will next month bring? Watch this space!!
