Parent’s Council News ~ April 2017

Posted on April 24th, 2017 in ** Parent's Council by Mrs. Doran

Hope everyone enjoyed the Easter holidays and are all set for the last term!

Firstly we want to say a big thank you to all the families who have
generously supported our fundraising events so far this year.
Through your generosity the Parents Council has been able to purchase 16 new
computers at a cost of 6000 euro for the school which are being used and
appreciated by the students everyday.

Next month the 2 sixth classes will be attending an Anti-Bullying Programme
as part of the school’s Stay Safe Policy, and the Parents Council are
delighted to be able to fund this programme .

Upcoming events:
We’re really looking forward to our annual communion reception party on May
13th.  We’ll have light refreshments back at the school straight after Mass,
for the families of both communion classes – it’s a great chance for all the
boys and girls to see their friends before heading off for the afternoon.
There will be a professional photographer set up at the school to take
communion/family portraits with very reasonable print packages available to
order. Anyone who would be free to help out for a few hours on this day
please contact the email address below.

Reminder: We rely heavily on the Voluntary Contribution system to be
continue our work, so if you haven’t had a chance to return your brown
envelope (or it slipped your mind!) you can easily pay online – just click
on the Aladdin link on this website and follow the instructions!

Monster Christmas Draw 2012

Posted on December 15th, 2012 in ** Parent's Council by Mr. Gately  Tagged

Thanks to all families who generously supported our annual raffle. At the latest count we have raised just over €5000 which is a tremendous sum of money. We will be in touch soon to let you know what we intend to do with the money. As mentioned in our recent Newsletter €1000 has been spent on upgrading the sound system in the hall. We will also probably spend some more on “sprucing-up” the hall with new blinds and some paint. In the last couple of years we have also funded the upgrading of the stage lights and the purchase of new stage curtains.

Again thanks to all for the great support for all our fundraising efforts. Click below to see a full list of all prize winners and prizes and thanks to all who contributes prizes for the draw.

Recycle Costumes.

If any family has a nativity costume (angel, shepherd, king …..) that is no longer in use, the Parents’ Council would like to

have it in order to make up a collection for use annually and keep in the school. This would make it

easier for families when your child needs a nativity costume, as the school could provide them each year.

Our Parents’ Council held their AGM on Tues Nov. 17th. in the school. The meeting was well attended and we were treated to 4 excellent presentations on children’s and adult’s health by Deirdre, Mary, Elaine and Collette. This was followed by the treasurer’s report which showed a healthy balance for the year thanks to all the hard work of the committee and the loyal support of the families of our pupils. Chairperson Linda Keeling gave a short address outlining the work carried out during the year and she thanked the committee for their dedication and support. Mr. Gately thanked everyone for attending and praised the committee for their excellent work throughout the year, in particular highlighting the huge effort put into the “Book Rental” scheme which is so important to many families in the school. He also outlined plans to develop a school garden and continue to improve access to new technologies for the children in the Mercy School. Finally elections took place and 3 new members joined the committee for this school year. Thank you to all who attended. Please support our next big event the Bag-Packing in Tesco on Nov. 26th. and 27th.
