Happy Summer Holidays to you all!
Thank you very much for all the beautiful gifts and cards and for all the kind words.
Have a safe and happy summer.
Senior Infants had a wonderful day at Blackwater Open Farm on Wednesday June 21st 2017. Have a look at room 5 photos here.
We have been SUPER busy lately. We have had Active Week, The Enniscorthy Athletics Competition, A Football Blitz, A visit from The Women’s Rugby World Cup, A tug of war class, a dance class with Wilma, Gaelic with Jason, Rugby with Corey, Tennis with Ashley, an Athlectics workshop and Mercy’s Got Talent!
Jodie and Kacey took to the stage for Mercy’s Got Talent and did us proud.
Danny, Jodie, Alannah, Evan and Luke went to The Enniscorthy Athletics Competition and Ms. English said that she was very proud of them!
Evan gave the boys a ‘lace – tying lesson’ as some of them need to work really hard on learning how to tie their laces over the Summer!!
We used the new laptops to research projects for Geography and History.
We did shadow pictures and as many activities as we could outside because the weather has been really nice.
Dilara and Ruby K reached the Skipathon final during Active Week and Dilara managed to come 3rd place. She is the 3rd best skipper in the whole school!
Kacey, Róisín and Ruby M were presented with certificates for their outstanding handwriting!
The year isn’t over yet … stay tuned for more photographs!
Hope everyone enjoyed the Easter holidays and are all set for the last term!
Firstly we want to say a big thank you to all the families who have
generously supported our fundraising events so far this year.
Through your generosity the Parents Council has been able to purchase 16 new
computers at a cost of 6000 euro for the school which are being used and
appreciated by the students everyday.
Next month the 2 sixth classes will be attending an Anti-Bullying Programme
as part of the school’s Stay Safe Policy, and the Parents Council are
delighted to be able to fund this programme .
Upcoming events:
We’re really looking forward to our annual communion reception party on May
13th. We’ll have light refreshments back at the school straight after Mass,
for the families of both communion classes – it’s a great chance for all the
boys and girls to see their friends before heading off for the afternoon.
There will be a professional photographer set up at the school to take
communion/family portraits with very reasonable print packages available to
order. Anyone who would be free to help out for a few hours on this day
please contact the email address below.
Reminder: We rely heavily on the Voluntary Contribution system to be

Our trip to Dublin was brilliant! We had such a good day. We went to Dublinia and our guide Barry really taught us a lot. We explored the National History Museum and saw The Bog Men and many other artefacts.
We have had fun doing Art, Geography projects and a story writing competition too.
We also had our termly treat of a movie in the hall… with popcorn! Thankfully everyone in our class had earned enough to stamps to be able to take part in the treat.
On Wednesday 29th March three coaches from the Faythe Harriers Hurling Club came to our school to introduce the game of hurling to the boys and girls. Everyone had great fun and really enjoyed learning how to hurl. A huge thank you to the three coaches Pat Doyle, Darren Caulfield and David Murphy.

Can you find yourself in the photos? Who knows maybe Davy Fitz will be checking out our school blog looking for potential hurlers!
Watch our dress rehearsal for our Ceolchoirm. There will be more to follow later.
Bhí Ceolchoirm ar siúl inniu. Bhain gach dalta an taintneamh as an lá. Féach ar na bpictiúirí den lá.

We celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite character from a book. Then we went to The Book Centre to meet aWexford author Caroline Busher. She was very interesting. We used our book token to get a free book and we even got popcorn and jellies!
We then invited Ms. Hughes’ Class up to our room and we read out mini books to them. We all wrote and designed a mini book suitable for 1st class children. They really enjoyed our stories.
We have done lots of bright, colourful Art recently – mirror pictures, painting of daffodils and beautiful Spring flowers.
We also enjoyed a talk from The Dogs’ Trust. We got to meet a lovely little rescue dog too.
Here is a video of our 10 @ 10 Day in the Mercy School. We had lots of fun and exercise.

We are so excited to be part of The 10 at 10 challenge that Operation Transformation are running this year!
The Mercy Samba Band have been practicing hard and we are in carnival inspired costumes ready to entertain everyone.
Ms Shannon’s sixth class were put through their paces yesterday with a very enjoyable fitness class with Jason Kehoe of Marathon Fitness. Jason very kindly volunteered to come into the school to do a workshop as part of our Active School programme. As you can see from the photos, pupils and teacher really got into it and had great fun!
Five children from the Mercy School were presented with prizes yesterday 21st December 2016 for their effort in creating a Christmas Decoration out of Recycled Materials. They were presented with their awards by Paddy Kavanagh Chairperson of Wexford County Council.
It was a lovely evening with carol singing, chocolate for the children and tea and coffee for the parents. Here are some of the photos of the evening.
A huge thank you to Wexford County Council for pulling out all the stops to ensure everyone enjoyed themselves.
We had great fun at our 1st Senior Active Flag Assembly. We all danced to the Macarena.
See can you spot yourself in the video below. We all followed the moves from the Active Flag Committee who were up on the stage. Well done to all.
Remember to work so hard that some day your signature will be called an autograph.!
We had a wonderful ‘Hop for the Hospice’ on Thurs 15th September. The sun shone down on us and people came out in their droves to support Wexford Hospice Homecare.
Our afternoon began with a prayer of thanks to the Hospice Homecare team, for their dedication and compassion to the people of Wexford. We also remembered friends and family who are sick.
Next , Ms Shannon and Ms Griffin’s classes sang a beautiful song ‘Clouds’ . This song was written by teenager Zach Sobiech about his battle with cancer. Mr King, Emily O’Reilly and Anoushka Nolan ably accompanied the classes on guitar.
Lily Moran released a balloon into the sky as a symbol of remembrance for all our loved ones who are sick. We really enjoyed tracking the balloon as it floated higher and higher towards Curracloe and out of sight.
Each class then took turns to have a candlelit relay around the walking track and we finished off with lots of music and dancing on the Astroturf. And of course the afternoon wouldn’t have been complete without a sweet treat for everyone from the cake stand .
We’d like to extend our thanks to the organising committee, to the parents council members and volunteers who manned the tea, coffee and cake station, to Lisa for her artwork and to Seamus for once again bringing a school event to life with plenty of music.
The biggest thanks of all go to you the parents and our pupils for being so supportive of this cause.

Mercy Athletes shine in Glorious Sunshine
The Mercy School travelled to Bree on Wednesday 18th May to compete in Co Wexford Primary School Sports. A total of 28 athletes competed in running, long jump, high jump and relay events. Lots of the athletes qualified for the semi-final and finals. We brought home two gold medals U-11 100m sprint Ailbhe White, U-13 Long Jump Nadia Moussatti. It was a great experience for all the boys and girls to compete at this event, where there is always a high standard of competition.
A huge thank you to all the parents that travelled and helped out, without which we would not be able to travel to Bree Sports.
Parents: Senan O’Reilly, Kevin White, Nicola Cummings, Lisa Scallan, Celine Long, Caroline and Robbie Smith, Margaret and Willy Lawless and Clifford Gainford.
