The 1798 Centre and Vinegar Hill

Posted on October 21st, 2016 in Ms. McLoughlin by Martha Mcloughlin

We have been learning about the 1798 Rebellion in school and we were so lucky to get to take a trip to visit the 1798 Centre, Enniscorthy Castle and also Vinegar Hill.

The two sixth classes set off on Friday 14th October and we had a great day. We learned loads of information about the Rebellion from our tour guides, we explored the castle and we got to try on old fashioned costumes.

Here are some photo’s from our trip!cimg4892cimg4890cimg4885cimg4881cimg4893cimg4904cimg4903cimg4905cimg4891

Maths Week 2016!

Posted on October 20th, 2016 in Ms. Griffin by Ms. Griffin

We have had great fun celebrating Maths Week.

We went out to the astroturf and made all sorts of lines and angles with our bodies!

We did riddles for homework and tomorrow we are going to do a survey of children in other classes and draw a graph to show the results.

We have a winner!

Posted on October 12th, 2016 in Ms. Griffin by Ms. Griffin

Recently our class entered an Art competition where we had to design a poster illustrating the slogan “Exercise is good for you!” The National Association of Physiotherapists ran the competition for all the 4th class children in Wexford town as they are having their special meeting in Wexford this year. We might not have won the overall prize but we did win a runner up prize!

There were lots of great entries with Ruby and Abbi getting a special mention but the overall winner was Alannah! She got a voucher for Sportsavers.

Local physiotherapist Kay Nixon came to our school today to present Alannah with her prize. We were all very proud.

Our Autumn Walk to Redmond Park

Posted on October 11th, 2016 in Ms. Griffin by Ms. Griffin

We went on an Autumn walk to Redmond Park. We practiced our Road Safety skills on the way down and our teacher was very proud of our good behaviour.

There are lots of beautiful trees in Redmond Park – oak, sycamore, birch, spruce and fir.

We explored the park and collected lots of different coloured leaves – brown, green, red, yellow and orange.

When we got back to school, we let the leaves dry out on the window sills and a few days after that we make beautiful Autumn tree pictures.

6th class so far…

Posted on October 10th, 2016 in Ms. McLoughlin by Martha Mcloughlin

We are all delighted to be back in school and in 6th class.

September was a busy month for us and here’s a sample of what we’ve been up to in room 9.

The Food Pyramid

We created The Food Pyramid as a class.

cimg4850

We drew these beautiful still life drawings of a fruit bowl, we carefully shaded them in using pencil.

In English, we have been creatively writing. We wrote newspaper articles about the Titanic and using tea-stained paper we wrote messages in bottles.

We have also begun working on geography projects. In pairs we chose a country we would like to find out more about, we researched many facts about these countries and we are now in the process of putting our projects together. We will be presenting them to the class soon!

We have lots more exciting things planned and we can’t wait to share them with you all soon.

Keep an eye out for more news from 6th class!
