Settling into 4th Class!

Posted on September 29th, 2016 in Ms. Griffin by Ms. Griffin

September has been fun-filled and full of learning. Here are some of the things that we got up to …

We tackled lines and angles and hundreds and thousands. We learned about The Normans, sketched and painted self-portraits, started Drama with WACT and practiced our handwriting.

We played some games in Gaeilge, learned a couple of songs, started a new novel and made class bunting.

We ran really fast around the track to record our personal best times and made a lovely Sacred Space.

Phew!  What will next month bring? Watch this space!!

Hop for the Hospice

Posted on September 29th, 2016 in Latest News,Ms O'Sullivan,Ms. Doran by Mrs. Doran

We had a wonderful ‘Hop for the Hospice’ on Thurs 15th September. The sun shone down on us and people came out in their droves to support Wexford Hospice Homecare.

Our afternoon began with a prayer of thanks to the Hospice Homecare team, for their dedication and compassion to the people of Wexford. We also remembered friends and family who are sick.

Next , Ms Shannon and Ms Griffin’s classes sang a beautiful song ‘Clouds’ . This song was written by teenager Zach Sobiech about his battle with cancer.  Mr King, Emily O’Reilly and Anoushka Nolan ably accompanied the classes on guitar.

Lily Moran released a balloon into the sky as a symbol of remembrance for all our loved ones who are sick. We really enjoyed tracking the balloon as it floated higher and higher  towards Curracloe and out of sight.

Each class then took turns to have a candlelit relay around the walking track and we finished off with lots of music and dancing on the Astroturf. And of course the afternoon wouldn’t have been complete without a sweet treat for everyone from the cake stand .

We’d like to extend our thanks to the organising committee, to the parents council members and volunteers who manned the tea, coffee and cake station, to Lisa for her artwork and to Seamus for once again bringing a school event to life with plenty of music.

The biggest thanks of all go to you the parents and our pupils for being so supportive of this cause.

We raised an amazing €1689.25
