We are just back from our SCHOOL TOUR!!!!!!!!!
We had a brilliant day at Kia Ora farm in Gorey.
The sun was shining, everyone was smiling and the boys and girls had lots and lots and lots of fun!!
Have a look at our pictures and see what we got up to.
It’s Friday afternoon and the sun is shining. What else would you do but go out and enjoy some outdoor fun and learning. Click on the link below to see loads of classes out enjoying the fine weather.
We are having a great time in Room 13. Check out what we have been up to!
Careers Talk
Along with Mr. King’s 4th Class, we had a very successful Careers Talk which saw both family members of the pupils and staff of the school speak to the pupils about their jobs. We would like to say a special thank you to all our guest speakers for giving up their time and for making the day so enjoyable.
We heard from a Garda Detective, a taxi driver with an engineering background who used to be a chef, a technical producer who trained with and was friends with Amanda Holden no less, an Occupational Therapist, a Social Worker and a retail manager with over 25 years experience with big stores such as Sainsburys and Tesco. A very popular lady from a local chipper, The Premier, spoke to us about customer service, hygiene and food safety. She also very kindly brought us some lovely food to sample! We heard from Lorraine, our school secretary who spoke to us of her role as an office administrator and Mr. Gatetly told us all what it was like to be a principal. We heard from three teachers in the school who used to have other jobs before they became teachers – Mr. Cadogan who was a town planner, Ms. Small who was a lawyer and Ms. McKiernan who was a stage manager and also worked on Riverdance among many other exciting things. I also said a small bit about being a teacher!
It was an excellent day and the girls learned so much judging by the discussion we had afterwards and the great reports that they wrote about the event.
Ice- Cream Day
We had yummy ice cream and managed to raise money for Downs Syndrome Ireland at the same time!
Pyjama Day!
We all wore our PJs to school today as a School Council Fundraiser and some teddies even managed to make their way into the classroom!
Art
We have been working on a lovely Summer wall display and it is finally finished! Ice cream cones, hot air balloons and flowers!
