What a fantastic day we had on June 27th (despite the weather) as we had 3 different events on the one day. First up was our “Damhsathon” and concert, followed closely by the raising of our 5th green flag and finishing up with the official opening of our school garden “An Ghairdín Glas”. Thanks to everyone who helped organise the day and those who turned up to support it. It was a great way to finish up another exciting year in The Mercy School.

The raising of our Fifth green flag and the official opening of our school garden – An Gairdin Glas will take place on Wednesday 27th June. We are planning a fun filled day as we are also hosting our annual damshsathon. Our damshsathon will commence at 10am out in the yard and there will also be performances of songs and dances by individual classes.
The raising of our fifth green flag will take place at 11.15 at the front of the school and this will be followed by the official opening of our school garden by Sr Siobhan Hayden.
The parents council will provide light refreshments in the halla after the ceremonies.
Parents are welcome on the day to join in the festivities. Unfortunately there will be no parking available on the school grounds on Wednesday.
Fingers crossed for some fine weather!
Our Sports Day finally took place on June 19th and it was a wonderful success. Thanks to all the pupils for being well behaved, thanks to the staff for all the work in getting the day organised and thank to our parents and past-pupils for helping out on the day. A special thanks to Seamus O Sullivan for keeping the fun going with music and chat. If you missed the magnificent parade of countries (our own mini-olympics) click below to see a great spectacle.

In our class we have been learning about volcanos so we decided to make one ourselves. This is what we did:
Materials
small plastic bottle
bread soda
vinegar
sheet of laminated paper
Steps
1. Get your bottle and wrap the green laminated paper around it so it looks like a volcano.
2. Get your bread soda and put about 3 big spoons into the bottle.
3. Put about 10 squirts of vinegar into the bottle and then step away…
