Strawberries – Yummy!

Posted on March 25th, 2010 in Ms. English by Mrs. English  Tagged

Did you know that we planted strawberry plants in our class last week?  We loved getting our hands dirty as we fist had to put peatmoss in our pots and then we put two stawberry plants in the pot and pressed down really hard.  We hope to have strawberries in the summer.  We will know that the strawberries are on their way after we spot blooms coming on the plants.  We brought home our strawberry plants on Thursday 25th March and we must remember to water them every second day and also to place them near a window as they need plenty of sunlight.  Yummy yummy in my tummy! 100_1676

TOT – Trek on Thursday

Posted on March 25th, 2010 in Green Flag by Mrs. English  Tagged

Well done to all pupils, parents and teachers who made such a great effort in walking to school on our TOT day.  The results were amazing with the car park almost empty at nine o ‘clock in the morning.  Now that’s a first!  A travel survey was carried out by the  Green Flag Committee on Wednesday 24th to examine the different ways that people travelled to school.  The same survey was carried out on our TOT and it was discovered that almost three times as many children walked to school on Thursday.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the walk and some teachers reported that children were more awake and keen for work!  We hope to have another walk to school day in the near future, in the mean time we would encourage as many children as possible to walk to school whenever they can. TOT10 (8)

Thank you for your support and happy Easter to you all.   Remember to recycle all the cardboard after munching through your Easter Eggs!

Can you believe that this is the school yard at 9am on the morning!!!

Congratulations to all the girls who made their First Confession last night. The girls all sang beautifully and the readers spoke nice and clearly. Well done to everybody.

We would like to thank Fr. O’ Shea for his lovely ceremony and to Fr. Fegan for helping. Both priests helped to make our Sacrament of Reconcilliation very special. Thank you to Mr. Gately for joining us on our special night. A big thank you goes to the older girls who helpeds with the singing.

See you in Rowe Street Church at 7.30pm 🙂

Many pupils from the school entered along with hundreds from all over county Wexford. The standard in the school was so high that we are going to put several more entries on display on the corridors upstairs and downstairs.

We are trying to set a good example for the younger children. Today, we were exercising with our pedometers and the younger children started exercising too.

At the end of the day we feel proud of ourselves for eating our fruit and veg, but also a sense of achievement for getting the prize.

We now realise that is it easy to eat more fruit and veg every day.

So far our favourite fruits are satsumas and bananas, and our favourite vegetables are carrots and cucumbers.

Writing Poems

Posted on March 4th, 2010 in Ms. Doran by Mrs. Doran  Tagged

We wrote poems today about something that is lost. This is Amy’s poem. Well done Amy.

I cannot find my brother,

I’ve looked everywhere,

I’ve looked in the bed,

And I looked on the chair.

I looked in the cot,

And I looked on the floor,

I looked in my school bag,

And I looked behind the door.

Oh where on earth is my brother?

He is with my mother.

Sound Walk

Posted on March 1st, 2010 in Ms. Hughes by Mrs. Doran  Tagged

We went on a sound walk around the school.

———— Our School on a Friday afternoon ————-

Sssh! This is what we heard………

Footsteps on the stairs

Toilets flushing

Music

Chairs moving

Singing

Children talking

Doors opening and closing

Teachers talking

Laughing

Mums and Dads collecting the infants

Wheels of the infants school bags rolling

Money rattling

People coughing

Wind

Birds whistling

Car horns beeping

It was great fun!!
