Mrs. Woodbyrne’s Fourth Class made some spooky word sums for Mrs. Doran’s First Class to celebrate Maths Week. The Fourth Class girls created lots of word sums and they wrote them out, some girls drew pictures to illustrate the word sums. Half the classes worked in Mrs. Doran’s room and the other half worked in Mrs. Woodbyrne’s room. Cubes were used to help solve the problems. All the children had lots of fun.

King Midas

We learned all about King Midas. He was a very greedy Greek king. He got a wish and his wish was that everything he touched turned to gold, but he knew that he was in trouble when he tried to eat his tea…..

We celebrated St. Brigid’s Day on the 1st February.  In 4th class, we made St. Brigid’s crosses from rushes kindly picked by Clara’s daddy (Anthony).

Thank you Clara’s Daddy.

We had a great time and the girls made gorgeous crosses to bring home to their families, we hope they have pride of place in your homes!

The Historic Walls of Wexford with 4th Class

Greetings from 4th Class!

4th Class (Ms. Mckiernan and Ms. Woodbyrne) learned about the Historic Walls of Wexford.  Mr. Willie Roche (local historian) took us on a wonderful adventure, discovering the history of Wexford and following the wall throughout the town.  We visited Selskar Abbey, looked at the locations of the old gates of the town and even recreated part of the wall by joining hands!  It was a great day and we really enjoyed ourselves. A big thank you to Mr. Willie Roche. We took our ipods (yes!) and these are some of the photos taken by the girls.

Field Trip

3rd class had a wonderful trip Raven Woods on the 18th of May. We travelled out by bus and met with our guide Deirdre who arranged a scavenger hunt in the forest. Later we went fishing with nets and caught all kinds of bugs and fish. Deirdre helped us to

identify what we found. For lunch we had a picnic in the sand dunes followed by a bug hunt.

We went for a walk in our locality to look at the businesses and buildings around us. We identified places of work and employment. Take a look at where we went.

Construction Art

Posted on February 15th, 2010 in Ms. Woodbyrne by Mrs. Woodbyrne  Tagged

We designed and constructed houses and gardens based on our class novel , Diary of a Killer Cat. We planned in goups of two or three what we would need and what we would put in the gardens. We used a shoebox for the garden and inside we created the garden. Mr Gately and Ms Berry’s class visited to take a look. Everyone was very impressed!
