Welcome everyone  from Miss. Flynn’s Junior Infants!

What a busy September we have had – we are all settled into school now and have learnt all about Autumn.

We made very colourful autumnal trees and their leaves are all falling off. Have a look at them outside our room.

We are also keeping our eyes open outside of school for any signs of Autumn and have brought in some lovely red, brown and yellow sycamore leaves. Our nature table is sure to be full soon!

Fine Display of Camogie from a Very Determined and Hardworking Mercy Side

Posted on March 19th, 2010 in Ms. Flynn,Ms. Shannon,Sport by Ms. Shannon  Tagged

Last Thursday 11th March our school camogie team travelled to Murrintown to participate in the mini-sevens competition. The girls played three matches against Castlebridge, Barntown and Murrintown. They did extremely well considering the strong clubs from which these schools come.

The Mercy side got off to a bit of a slow start against Castlebridge but swiftly narrowed the gap in the second half  finishing with only a goal in the difference. Our girls had a strong victory against Barntown. Again, they were narrowly beaten by a very strong Murrintown side.

Sarah Murphy (fourth class) blew us away as she scored twice from sideline pucks. Fearless Cody Brennan (fourth class) worked exceptionally hard in the forwards and scored two astonishing goals. Elizabeth Connors (fifth class) had a great game in mid-field covering a lot of ground. Sarah McKenna (sixth class) and Emer McCormack (fourth class) formed a super partnership in the backs and instantly cleared every ball that came their way.

The Mercy panel included:

Niamh Buckley(fifth class) Cody Brennan(fourth class)Sarah Murphy(fourth class) Elizibeth Connors(fifth class) Sarah Mckenna(sixth class) Emer McCormack(fourth class) Kate Frayne (fourth class)Ciara Cullinane(fifth class)Ciara O’Reardon(fifth class)Katie Stone(fifth class)and Caoimhe O’Sullivan(fourth class).

Ms.Shannon and Ms.Flynn would like to thank all the girls for their dedication in training .They also want to thank the sixth class girls  who helped out in training.

Well done girls .The future of  Wexford camogie is alive and well in the Mercy school!!!!
