Christmas Play Senior Infants – Ms Englishs Class

Posted on November 22nd, 2011 in Ms. English by Mrs. English  Tagged

Watch out Broadway here we come!  This week we have started practicing for our Christmas play.  It is a play based on the story of the birth of Jesus.  Everyone has at least one line to say as well as lots of songs to sing.  The children are busy practicing their lines at home every night.  Our performance will take place just before the Christmas holidays, so keep your diary free!  A note will be sent home to all the parents nearer the time letting them know the time and date.

A visit to the Presidents House

Today we learned all about what it is like to be the President of Ireland.  We took a virtual tour of Áras an Úchtaráin on the interactive whiteboard.  Did you know that the President Mary McAlesse gets up at eight o clock every morning?  The President also keeps two dogs one called Homer and the other called Lucy!

We talked about the Presidential elections that will take place on the 27th of October and discussed the names of all the candidates going forward for the elections.  The girls all wanted a girl president and surprise surprise the boys all wanted a boy president.

Who is going to win?

My Special People

We have been busy over the past week making our special people booklets.  Everyone drew a picture of six people who are special in their lives.  Each child then presented their book to the rest of the class.  We also brought in photographs of our special people and we have them displayed in our classroom.

Strawberries – Yummy!

Posted on March 25th, 2010 in Ms. English by Mrs. English  Tagged

Did you know that we planted strawberry plants in our class last week?  We loved getting our hands dirty as we fist had to put peatmoss in our pots and then we put two stawberry plants in the pot and pressed down really hard.  We hope to have strawberries in the summer.  We will know that the strawberries are on their way after we spot blooms coming on the plants.  We brought home our strawberry plants on Thursday 25th March and we must remember to water them every second day and also to place them near a window as they need plenty of sunlight.  Yummy yummy in my tummy! 100_1676

Bring home all your rubbish day

MsEnglish& Ms Cooneys class were busy on Tuesday 16th February.  We had great fun making pancakes down in the rainbow room.  These were magic pancakes as they disappeared so quickly.

We also did very well in the competition to see how much rubbish we could bring home in our lunch boxes on that day.  Aoife won a car bin for her efforts.
