Hopefully we will not see more snow until winter!!!! We made these snowmen from fabric.
We have been learning how to weave during art. Here are some photos of our creations.
First we started with paper weaving.
Next we began weaving with wool and a paperplate. We made a flower for our garden.
Finally we used some netting material and wool to weave a bird’s nest. We had fun making our nests, birds and background. We wrote spring poems too.
We have been learning about homes in the past. We made a class museum with artefacts from home. Can you guess what they are all for?
Can you find 10 on the one hundred square for the dog?

The Environment ~ by Shay
The grass is green, please keep it clean.
The trees are tall, don’t make them fall.
The water is clean, let’s keep it this way.
So look after the environment everyday.
The Environment ~ by Rachel
Recycle the rubbish, don’t throw it away.
Turn off the lights, during the day.
Save water whatever you do.
To make the environment a good place for you.
We painted a picture of Santa Claus. We zoomed in on him.
After finishing reading the story ” Spooky Monster” in our reader we made these pictures. We used a graded colour wash for the background. We printed the body, first we put blobs of paint on the page, then we folded our page in half and pressed/pulled the paint along the page. Finally we used oil pastels to add details to our monsters.
We have been learning all about different materials in our environment. We went on a material hunt in school. At home we looked for samples to stick on our worksheet.
We used pencils and charcoal to draw our favourite fruit.
Fruit ~ Charcoal & Pencil Drawings
We painted a Hallowe’en sunset. Then we painted a silhouette of a witch flying in the sky.
We have been learning about squirrels. We made squirrels using a template. Mrs. Doran wrote the instructions on the whiteboard……but she didn’t show us how to put our squirrel together. We had to figure that out for ourselves.
Did you know????
Squirrels live in a nest called a drey.
Red squirrels like to eat pine cones.
Grey squirrels like to eat acorns.
Squirrels do not hibernate. They sleep for long times during the day in winter. On sunny days they will come out of their drey for a quick snack. But sometimes they cannot remember where they hid their food!
Mrs. Woodbyrne’s Fourth Class made some spooky word sums for Mrs. Doran’s First Class to celebrate Maths Week. The Fourth Class girls created lots of word sums and they wrote them out, some girls drew pictures to illustrate the word sums. Half the classes worked in Mrs. Doran’s room and the other half worked in Mrs. Woodbyrne’s room. Cubes were used to help solve the problems. All the children had lots of fun.
