Living things!

Posted on October 22nd, 2012 in Ms. Berry by Ms. Berry  Tagged

In Room 1 the children recently learned about living and non-living things.

We visited the school garden to find both and the children certainly did!

Each child then planted their our own flower bulb which hopefully will prove

to be full of life in Spring!!

Summer Fun in Redmond Park

Posted on June 13th, 2012 in Ms. Berry,Ms. Flynn,Ms. Griffin by Ms. Flynn  Tagged

We went on a lovely summer walk to Redmond park with all our friends in 1st class on Tuesday. We were looking for all the wonderful signs that summer is here and we found plenty. We brought the iPods with us to take pictures – have a look for yourself ..! :)

The children had good fun in Rm 3 recently designing and constructing their own

Well done – they are so bright and colourful!

Exploring the school garden

Posted on February 12th, 2012 in Ms. Berry by Ms. Berry  Tagged

Before Christmas the children planted bulbs in the school garden and last week they also planted raspberry plants with Ms. English. We visited the garden to see how the bulbs were growing and the plants are well above grouns. The children also had lots of fun and screams checking for bugs! And while  we were there a rainbow appeared also  - with treasure of course !

Spring flowers!

Posted on January 31st, 2011 in Ms. Berry by Ms. Berry  Tagged

The bulbs the children in Rm 4 sowed last Autumn have been growing and thriving over the past months. Last week, we saw the first ones  flowering –  the crocuses. Here are the proud gardeners!

Our Favourite Books

Posted on January 31st, 2011 in Ms. Berry by Ms. Berry  Tagged

The children in Rm 4 recently made book covers of their favourite books. They look great – even better than the real books – well done!

Enjoy the Snow!

To all the children in Rm 4 – hope you are still enjoying the snow – and of course doing some reading as well!!!

Food Chain Mobiles

Posted on December 3rd, 2010 in Ms. Berry by Ms. Berry  Tagged

Recently the children in Rm 4 examined different habitats and looked closely at the behaviour of woodlice and snails in the classroom, (very lively woodlice who wanted to explore the entire classroom, but for the bravery of a few boys in the class who captured them!).

Then they each put together a food chain mobile, based on a woodland habitat, starting with oak leaves, eaten by caterpillars, eaten by robins, who in turn are eaten by a hawk!

The children in Rm 4 each designed their own outfit and cut it out from different materials. They created very unique and special pieces and then chose some famous people to wear them!

Planets

Posted on May 9th, 2010 in Ms. Berry by Ms. Berry  Tagged

The children in Rm 4 created their own solar system. Each group was responsible for making a particular planet, mixing paint to get just the right colour and then using much newspaper to create 3-D planets. They are so colourful and cool – and won’t be forgotten easily I hope!! Well done children!

We made bird nests

Posted on March 24th, 2010 in Ms. Berry by Ms. Berry  Tagged

Having learned about some birds, the children in room 4 set about making birds nests. Firstly, they used clay to make the base of the nests. Then on a visit to Redmond Park (kindly invited by Ms. Flynn), the children collected the materials they needed to complete the nests – moss, twigs, ivy, leaves, grass etc. Well done to all the children – the nests look really well!

Our Class Park

Posted on February 14th, 2010 in Ms. Berry by Ms. Berry  Tagged

IMG_2225IMG_2224IMG_2223IMG_2226In Rm 4, the children designed and built their very own park. After much discussion, we made a list of what everyone felt they would love to see in a park and in pairs the children built each part. The class park included a skateboard area, roundabout, bird table, duck pond, slide, swing, roundabout, walkway, flowers, trees, picnic area and tree house.
Well done – it was great collaborative work built on really creative ideas!
