Monster Christmas Draw 2012

Thanks to all families who generously supported our annual raffle. At the latest count we have raised just over €5000 which is a tremendous sum of money. We will be in touch soon to let you know what we intend to do with the money. As mentioned in our recent Newsletter €1000 has been spent on upgrading the sound system in the hall. We will also probably spend some more on “sprucing-up” the hall with new blinds and some paint. In the last couple of years we have also funded the upgrading of the stage lights and the purchase of new stage curtains.

Again thanks to all for the great support for all our fundraising efforts. Click below to see a full list of all prize winners and prizes and thanks to all who contributes prizes for the draw.

If any family has a nativity costume (angel, shepherd, king …..) that is no longer in use, the Parents’ Council would like to

have it in order to make up a collection for use annually and keep in the school. This would make it

easier for families when your child needs a nativity costume, as the school could provide them each year.

Our Parents’ Council held their AGM on Tues Nov. 17th. in the school. The meeting was well attended and we were treated to 4 excellent presentations on children’s and adult’s health by Deirdre, Mary, Elaine and Collette. This was followed by the treasurer’s report which showed a healthy balance for the year thanks to all the hard work of the committee and the loyal support of the families of our pupils. Chairperson Linda Keeling gave a short address outlining the work carried out during the year and she thanked the committee for their dedication and support. Mr. Gately thanked everyone for attending and praised the committee for their excellent work throughout the year, in particular highlighting the huge effort put into the “Book Rental” scheme which is so important to many families in the school. He also outlined plans to develop a school garden and continue to improve access to new technologies for the children in the Mercy School. Finally elections took place and 3 new members joined the committee for this school year. Thank you to all who attended.
